    Political separation from JD(U)

    Chirag Paswan's LJP contested the 2020 Bihar Assembly election separately from the NDA's JD(U), while maintaining support for Narendra Modi and the BJP.

    LJP organisational dispute

    A leadership dispute divided the original Lok Janshakti Party between Chirag Paswan and the group led by Pashupati Kumar Paras.

    Name and symbol allocation

    The Election Commission's interim arrangement allocated the name Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) to Chirag Paswan's group and used the helicopter as its election symbol.

    Lok Sabha election

    LJP (Ram Vilas) contested five Lok Sabha seats in Bihar as part of the NDA and won all five.

  5. 2025
    Bihar Assembly election

    The party won 19 seats in the Bihar Legislative Assembly election and continued as an NDA constituent in the state government.

    National executive restructuring

    The party reorganised its national executive in August 2026. Chirag Paswan remained national president and chairman of the national parliamentary board, while Surendra Vivek was appointed Bihar state president.
