Methodology

How NetaData collects, derives and updates the information on politicians, parties, states and constituencies.

Where the data comes from

Assets, liabilities, education, age and criminal cases come from the sworn affidavits candidates file with the Election Commission of India when they stand for election, as compiled by ADR / MyNeta.

Election results, constituencies and electorate figures come from Election Commission of India result data. Party profiles draw on ECI records and the parties' own published material.

Questions, debates and committee memberships for sitting Lok Sabha MPs are fetched live from Digital Sansad (sansad.in) each time a profile is opened, so they are as current as Parliament's own record.

How figures are derived

Declared assets are the total of movable and immovable assets in the latest affidavit on record, including family holdings, exactly as declared. They are not audited or adjusted.

Criminal case counts are the cases the candidate declared. A pending case is an allegation under judicial process, not a finding of guilt.

Rankings (richest, youngest, most educated, most cases) and averages are computed from these same fields; records missing a field are left out of that ranking rather than estimated. Education is ranked using ADR's categories.

How often it is updated

The datasets behind every profile were last refreshed on 15 October 2026. Affidavit-based figures change when a new affidavit is filed — at the next election the person contests.

Parliamentary activity (questions, debates, committees) is live. Election results are added after each general, assembly or bye-election is declared.
